WHAT WE SEEK:
We believe our communities need an active source for the latest information and news. As News Director, you will deliver relevant news to multiple counties in our listening areas. The right candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills both on-air and on-line, will have the ability to execute concise/informative newscasts and is ambitious when it comes to aggregating local content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather, compile, write, and edit local stories.
- Monitor sources for breaking news (including social media).
- Write and execute newscasts for multiple markets.
- Write for local news website.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Discernment – in what is newsworthy for our audiences
- Self motivation/discipline – ability to work independently
- Time management
- Writing skills – broadcast and online (including great grammar)
- Excellent online/social media skills
- Proficient with audio editing software and broadcast systems
- Up to date on latest news gathering/delivery trends
- Record keeping – archiving news stories/ability to maintain FCC Public File
- Organizational skills
- Respectful – to coworkers, guests and outside contacts
- Detail/focused
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year in broadcast journalism
- Some college preferred but not required
