Workers' Unite Dinner

Join us for dinner on International Workers' Day May 1st. This May 1st holiday commemorates the hundreds of thousands of workers across the country went on strike in 1886, demanding better working conditions and shorter working hours. This strike helped to give us our 8 hour work day. This day is celebrated to remind us of the valuable role that workers play in our society. It brings attention to important issues, such as better working conditions, fair wages, and shorter working hours, that are important for the well-being of workers Please join us to show your support for all workers with our guest speaker State Senator JD Ford! It will be held at the community building at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds. Doors open at 6pm. Dinner begins at 6:30. Students join and eat for free. All regular tickets will be $20. Cruisin' for a Cause

Cruisin' for a Cause is a car show fundraiser in support of Special Olympics. All proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County. There will be food, music, door prizes and more. The food trucks include Junkyard BBQ, Kona Ice, and Lolly Pops Cottage Bakery. Trophy categories include Best in Show, Best Low Rider, Best Import, Athlete's Choice, Best Classic, and Best Modifies/Tuner. The car show will take place at the Seymour High School Stadium Parking Lot from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm on May 9th.

Tour de Trails Bicycle Challenge - 80K, 50K, and 20K
Donner Park, 22nd Street, Columbus, IN, USA
Starting at the Donner Park, 20K bicyclists will get to explore our People Trail System throughout town with police assistance at large intersections. The 50K and 80K routes will take riders west of Columbus with the 50K going out to Grandview Lake and the 80K to Story Inn. All three routes will have 1-2 SAG stops with snacks and refreshments. All proceeds benefit The Columbus Park Foundation for maintenance of the People Trail Network. Register by April 28 to save $5. Register at cbusinparks.com/cpf-events.

Safe at Home

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter is a 90 minute program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence. Class is led by a certified instructor from the Council for Youth Development.
