COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Council approved requests for additional appropriations from several county entities at its Tuesday evening meeting.
The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative Indiana program in the county was authorized to appropriate $65,772.06 from its Indiana Department of Corrections grant. The county prosecutor’s office was authorized to receive $11,000 from the STOP (Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors) program to facilitate Spanish-language assistance to victims and witnesses.
Brad Barnes of Community Corrections told the council that the approved $2500 for the Veterans’ Treatment Court would assist with social distancing at a graduation ceremony in two weeks.
Todd Noblitt, of Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM), said that the county’s portion of a federal grant would help in the search for a consultant for replacing its 911 phone system. Noblitt expects the new BCEM 911 system to be online by the first week of November.
