HOPE, Ind. – The Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation has announced that it is preparing for a return to school buildings on August 4, while implementing safety guidelines for students and staff.
The school corporation says that daily screenings of all students and staff will be performed. Anyone with symptoms or a fever over 100 degrees will be sent home. Students will also have assigned seating where possible.
Enhanced cleaning procedures will be put in place throughout the building and grounds, including classrooms, playgrounds, and locker rooms. Additional hand sanitizer stations will be installed. Social distancing will be practiced, when possible, by utilizing flexible scheduling to limit class sizes.
Masks will be provided to all students and staff. They will not be required to be worn in the classroom, but there may be some situations where a mask is necessary, such as on a school bus. Also, lockers will not be issued to junior and senior high students in order to promote social distancing.
Flat Rock-Hawcreek officials say they will continue to monitor guidance from the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana State Department of Health, and the CDC and make adjustments as needed. Additional information regarding enrollment will be released no later than July 17.
