LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – Investigators with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office have released the name of the man who died after being shot by police in an incident at the Hollywood Casino and Hotel in Lawrenceburg, last Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Milo L. Kirsh, age 45, of Avon. Officers were called to the fourth floor of the Hollywood Hotel in the early morning hours after Kirsh was acting erratically and had allegedly chased another guest with a knife.
Upon arrival, police learned that Kirsh was firing a gun on the fourth floor. Three officers located Kirsh in the hallway. One officer gave Kirsh orders to drop the handgun. The evidence allegedly indicates that Kirsh began shooting with the officers returning fire.
Kirsh was struck and soon died at the scene. No officers were injured.
Detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post were asked to conduct an investigation. An autopsy was performed on Kirsh Monday to determine the cause of death. The results are pending.
The investigation is ongoing.
