COLUMBUS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will host a free Hoosier Riverwatch workshop on Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Ivy Tech’s Moravec Hall, 4475 Central Ave. The workshop is open to the public for those 18 and older.
Hoosier Riverwatch is an IDEM program that certifies residents to become active stewards of the state’s water resources through watershed education, water monitoring, and clean-up activities. Certified individuals collect water quality data and submit it to a state database for water chemistry and insect community analysis.
The seminar begins with a morning classroom session at Moravec Hall. After lunch, participants will conduct a practice collection on the Flatrock River at Owen’s Bend Park. You must provide your lunch and transportation. Water boots will be supplied.
RSVPs for the Hoosier Riverwatch workshop are required and the number of participants is limited. For more information or to RSVP, email Dr. Tom Sobat at tsobat@ivytech.edu.
