SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – Major Chris Holder of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department says a fatal crash occurred Wednesday morning on Morristown Road, just north of Rafferty Road.
The initial investigation indicates that at around 8:15 a.m. a pick-up traveling north, driven by Trevor Wilkins, 28, of Shelbyville, allegedly crossed into the southbound lane. The truck struck a passenger car head-on.
The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Shelby County Coroner’s office has not yet released the name of the deceased.
Wilkins was arrested at the scene and preliminarily charged with driving under the influence causing death. The investigation is ongoing.
The Shelbyville Fire Department, Shelbyville Police Department, Shelby County EMA, and Indiana State Police assisted in the investigation.
