COLUMBUS, Ind. – The City of Columbus announced Friday that Paul W. Smith, of Greenwood, has been appointed Assistant Director of Community Development.
Smith brings a wealth of experience, having served in various capacities such as a Director of Operations in the private sector, Community Liaison in the Office of Community and Rural Affairs for the State of Indiana, and as the Chief People Officer leading a team of over 400 individuals during his tenure in the U.S. Navy.
His background encompasses operational, managerial, and compliance expertise from the public and private sectors. He will operate under Robin Hilber, the Director of Community Development.
As the Assistant Director of Community Development, Smith’s key responsibilities include overseeing the city’s Affordable Housing study project, supporting the Director in managing the Community Development Block Grant funding, supervising upcoming affordable housing initiatives, coordinating the Community Homeless Initiative, and engaging in various community events.
Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marian University and a Master of Business Administration from Anderson University.
