COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus City Utilities (CCU) announced Thursday that its Quality Control Lab passed the Indiana Wastewater Environment Association (IWEA) Laboratory Excellence Award audit with a 99.8% grade.
IWEA presents the award for outstanding achievement in laboratory techniques implementation and administration. It recognizes labs with a high commitment to good laboratory practice and accurate data reporting.
To receive an excellence award, the laboratory must score 85% or higher in each category and a 90% or higher overall score.
CCU Quality Control Supervisor Angie Bowling said, “I am extremely proud of the Quality Control Staff, and the effort put into preparing for this audit as well as the outstanding dedication and quality that they bring into their job every day. We love what we do.”
The Quality Control Laboratory staff members achieving this honor are:

- James Bailey-Smith, Lab Technician
- Angie Bowling, Lab Supervisor
Acing the IWEA Laboratory Excellence audit with a 99.8% rating comes on the heels of CCU passing its first IWEA safety audit with a 99% grade earlier this month.
