SCOTTSBURG, Ind. — Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians with the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just east of Scottsburg early Wednesday morning.
The initial investigation reveals that around 1 a.m., Scott County deputies responded to a shooting at an apartment located at 2929 E. State Road 56 in Scottsburg. Deputies initially determined that two male occupants of the residence were involved in an argument, and one subject shot the other with a handgun during the dispute.
EMS personnel transported the victim to Scott County Memorial Hospital, where he later died due to his injuries. ISP detectives, troopers, and crime scene technicians also responded to the scene.
No arrests have been made at this time as detectives continue the investigation. Law enforcement will provide all information to the Scott County Prosecutor for review and any possible charges.
ISP identified the deceased as 49-year-old Edward Milam Calton of Scottsburg.
