SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Columbus North High School (CNHS) alum Maddi Rutan debuted in college softball Thursday night, leading the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels to a resounding 9-0 victory over Wofford College at the Wofford Invitational.
Rutan, a former Bulldog standout, showcased her pitching talents by delivering EKU’s second-ever perfect game in program history. She struck out eight opposing batters.
Her outing marked the first perfect game by a Colonel since 2019.
Maddi holds numerous offensive records at CNHS, boasting 35 career home runs. Her pitching career at Columbus North amassed an impressive 620 strikeouts across 353 innings pitched.
