NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Sgt. Ben Seastrom and Reserve Deputy Cory Hulsizer of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday to assist Rescue 20 and the Campbell Township Fire Department in a rescue situation. A female had fallen over a 60-foot cliff in the Muscatatuck caverns.
Rescue 20 personnel members Paige Bush and Andrew Wiley led the rope Rescue operation, which took about two and a half hours to get the woman to safety.
She was then transported by helicopter to a trauma center where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained in the fall.
Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman said, “The men and women who conducted this rescue are true heroes. They train constantly to be able to provide victims with the best care possible. We are so proud and so thankful for them.”
