SOUTHERN INDIANA – Indiana State Police (ISP) on Thursday arrested a Kentucky business owner on a felony theft charge that allegedly took place in a southern Indiana county. The suspect was arrested on the same charge in another Hoosier county earlier this month.
An investigation began in September 2023 when a Floyd County homeowner contacted Detective Tim Denby with the Indiana State Police Special Investigations Section and informed him of possible illegal activity by 29-year-old Shawn Ray Hull of Buffalo, Kentucky. Hull is one of two owners of Power Home Exteriors LLC. In this case, the homeowner had paid Hull more than $15,000 for window replacement in April 2023, but no work was ever started.
In November 2023, a second victim, this time from Washington County, contacted Detective Denby and advised they paid Power Home Exteriors $7,000.00 of a $14,000.00 estimate for window replacement. As in the previous case, no work was ever started. Both homeowners stated their calls went unanswered when they attempted to contact the company.
During his investigation, the ISP detective learned Shawn Hull had listed the business online with a Louisville address. However, there was no actual business at the given location. He also learned that the company never ordered or purchased replacement windows and that no work was ever started or completed in either case.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn Ray Hull was arrested and charged with Theft (Level 6 Felony), in Washington County, on January 11. On Wednesday, January 24, Hull was taken into custody for the same charge in Floyd County.
