GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is investigating an incident of “shots fired” that was reported Wednesday morning. Law enforcement is looking for a charcoal gray Ford F-150 pickup truck with an Indiana interim paper plate (S115305).
Deputies responded to 4377 West Countyline Rd., at the Winterbrook Mobile Home Community, at around 9:15 a.m. They found a vehicle that had been hit by bullets, but the truck’s owner was not forthcoming and investigators believe further retaliation is feared. Officers retrieved video footage of a suspected vehicle that was involved.
“This isn’t the type of incident that is acceptable in any situation,” said Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess. “We also must remember that there are several kids that live in the area and are home on fall break.”
The incident is believed to have started in Marion County and then filtered into Johnson County, per JCSO. Park management has also been notified and is cooperating with the investigation.
If you have any information pertaining to this situation, you are asked to call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 317-346-4654.
Sheriff Burgess said that all information provided by JCSO was gathered during the course of the investigation. Details are subject to change as new information is received.
