COLUMBUS, Ind. – Officers with the Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a local man with two warrants after he tried to flee police on Friday morning.
CPD tried to stop Manuel Torres, 32, who was riding a bike near 8th and Union Streets at around 2:50 a.m. Law enforcement says Torres jumped off the bike and ran to a nearby alley. Authorities told Torres to stop running several times and he supposedly refused to do so, per CPD. Police say that Torres allegedly started to reach in the waistband of his shorts, so officers tased him.
Torres was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment of minor injuries and then to Bartholomew County Jail. He is charged with a Felony Bartholomew County warrant, a Misdemeanor Bartholomew County warrant, and Resisting Law Enforcement.
