COLUMBUS, Ind. – Deputies with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) arrested a Columbus woman on multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop early Friday morning. Law enforcement received a call about a possible impaired driver just after midnight.
Deputies located the vehicle, driven by Briana McFarland, 32, of Columbus, and pulled her over after they witnessed multiple traffic violations, per BCSO spokesperson Sgt. Dane Duke.
A free air sniff was conducted during the traffic stop. K9 Fritzko alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the car, and a search allegedly revealed more than 10 grams of methamphetamine. After her arrest, McFarland supposedly admitted to concealing on her person more than 10 grams of fentanyl, per BCSO.
McFarland was arrested and faces preliminary charges of dealing meth, dealing in a narcotic drug (Fentanyl), possession of a narcotic drug (Fentanyl), possession of a legend drug injection device, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
