COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) welcomed a new firefighter to the department on Tuesday morning. Jeremiah Tracey, 28, was sworn in by Mayor Jim Lienhoop during the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting at Columbus City Hall.
Tracey is a 2013 graduate of Seymour High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology at Ball State University in 2016.
The newest CFD crew member has been working in fire service since 2019, having had previous experience at the Seymour and Bloomington Fire Departments.
He is a state-certified Emergency Medical Technician and Indiana Firefighter I & II certified. Additional certifications include Confined Space Rescue Technician, Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor, and Rope Rescue Technician.
Firefighter Tracey will undergo a department orientation and training program under the supervision of the CFD’s Training Division. At its completion, he will receive a station and shift assignment.
