COLUMBUS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) are hosting a free Hoosier Riverwatch workshop this Saturday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hoosier Riverwatch, an IDEM program, certifies citizens of Indiana in becoming active stewards of the state’s water resources through watershed education, water monitoring, and clean-up activities. Certified individuals can collect water quality data and submit it to the state for water chemistry and insect community analysis.
The workshop on Saturday begins at the college’s new Moravec Hall, 4475 Central Ave., in Columbus, with a morning classroom session. In the afternoon, participants will conduct a practice collection on the Flatrock River at Owen’s Bend Park.
The program is open to the public but you must be age 18 and older. RSVPs are required. To RSVP, or for more information, contact Dr. Tom Sobat at tsobat@ivytech.edu.
