JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) responded to a two-vehicle crash in rural Jennings County that claimed the life of a Versailles man on Saturday.
The ISP Crash Reconstruction Team indicates that at around 4:30 p.m., an SUV being driven by Jessica R. Parsons, 40, of Butlerville, was traveling east on County Road 650N, near County Road 575E, when for an unknown reason, her vehicle left the right side of the road. Parsons overcorrected, causing the vehicle to return to the roadway and travel into the path of a westbound car being driven by Christian P. Schular, 39, of Versailles.
Schular was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner’s Office. A passenger in Schular’s vehicle, Whittney Schular, 18, sustained serious injuries. She was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. Parsons was transported to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Toxicology results on both drivers are pending at this time. Speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
