COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) has announced the promotion of Benjamin Spencer to the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Spencer has been with the department since 2013 and has served as the CFD Training Officer, an appointed Administrative Captain position, since 2019.
As the leader of the department’s training division, Spencer’s responsibilities include overseeing all fire department training programs, courses, and facilities. He also developed a “Seat Rider” training program, which provides professional development training for firefighters who aspire to become company officers.
Lt. Spencer will transition from the Training Division to the Fire Suppression Division, where he is assigned to serve as Battalion-C Lieutenant of fire station #2.
