FRANKLIN, Ind. – Indiana Historical Society’s traveling panel exhibit, Securing the Vote: Women’s Suffrage in Indiana, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment which recognized women’s right to vote. It will be on display at the Franklin Branch of the Johnson County Public Library from February 28 to March 31.
“We look forward to celebrating Women’s History Month in March by sharing this exhibit that reminds us of the historic victories we’ve seen since the adoption of the 19th Amendment,” said the library’s Melanie Bishop.
The exhibit has photos and text detailing Hoosier women’s efforts to secure their right to vote from meetings, campaigns, and other grassroots efforts. Memorabilia is featured from the first Woman’s Rights Convention in Dublin, Indiana, in 1851, to the sanction of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
