INDIANAPOLIS – Jim Plump, of the Jackson County Industrial Development Corp., announced on his Facebook page Tuesday afternoon that the South Central Indiana Talent Region has been awarded $30 million in Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) funds.
The confirmation came during the Indiana Economic Development Corp. (IEDC) Board meeting at Butler University in Indianapolis. Across the state, IEDC passed out a total of $500 million to 17 regions.
The local money will help facilitate many projects in Jackson, Bartholomew, and Jennings counties. Representatives of the South Central Indiana Talent Region steering committee had asked for $49.5 million in READI grants in its proposal.
