COLUMBUS, Ind. – In order to address the increase of patients needing critical and intensive care inpatient recourse, Columbus Regional Health (CRH) has opened another intensive care unit in the inpatient setting.
The additional unit will operate as needed to handle the overflow of critically ill patients. As the latest surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations continues, a second ICU space was needed because of the consistently high numbers of inpatients needing critical care resources such as staffing, hospital beds, and specialized equipment.
For several weeks, the existing ICU space at CRH has been running at capacity. Officials say they will do all they can to continue to address the community’s healthcare needs.
CRH persists in pushing for members of the public to get vaccinated and to wear a mask.
