MONROVIA, Ind. – Many fire departments in the southeast U.S. were affected by Hurricane Helene’s devastation. Some have lost everything, including fire apparatus.
At its October meeting, members of the Gregg Township Fire Department in Morgan County voted to donate its 2004 reserve Engine to a department affected by the hurricane. Since that meeting, they have been helped by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, the North Carolina Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Fireman’s Faith Ministry.
They contacted Gerton Fire and Rescue in Henderson County, North Carolina, which lost its engine and needed one. On Saturday, October 26, reserve Gregg Township Fire Department’s Engine 122 was loaded up and delivered to the Gerton Fire Department with the support of Interstate Towing.
