FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin Police Department (FPD) detectives, Franklin Community High School administration, and school resource officers began investigating a threat made by a student on Tuesday afternoon. As with all threats, FPD says it takes these matters seriously.
Following school policy, any confirmed threats will result in immediate disciplinary action by school officials and ultimately charges being forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
Authorities commend the student who reported the threat and provided detailed information necessary to begin a thorough investigation and identify a potential suspect. This information provided enough factual detail to begin the inquiry promptly.
This situation continues to be investigated by FPD detectives. Charges will be presented to the prosecutor’s office.
FPD Chief Kirby Cochran said, “We will continue to work closely with school officials and community leaders to ensure a thorough investigation and charges where warranted. We encourage anyone with information on this situation to inform school officials or the Franklin Police Department. We appreciate your support, understanding, and everyone working together to keep our children and community safe.”
