EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Edinburgh Police Department and Edinburgh Fire and Rescue responded to a garage fire at 504 Sunset Dr., early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival just after midnight, officers observed a large portion of the residence was already engulfed in flames. Officers assisted the occupants from the burning residence to a safer location.
A 48-year-old male was treated at the scene for burns to his legs and taken by Bargersville Paramedics to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. A total of six occupants and several animals were displaced due to the extensive fire damage.
Chief Little of the Edinburgh Police Department said, “Unfortunately, six cats and two dogs died in the blaze.” The cause is still under investigation.
Assisting agencies included German Township Volunteer Fire, Amity Fire, Nineveh Fire, Bargersville Paramedics, and Fire Angels, who provided a place to stay and assistance with any items needed.
