CROTHERSVILLE, Ind. – A single-vehicle crash on I-65 in southern Jackson County on Friday morning claimed the life of a Georgia man and sent two passengers to Indianapolis area hospitals with serious injuries.
The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post indicates that at around 10:25 am, a pickup truck, driven by Jose Uribe, 53, of Winder, Georgia, was traveling north on I-65, near the 43-mile marker between Crothersville and Seymour, in Jackson County. For an unknown reason, his vehicle left the expressway, came back onto the roadway, and overturned before coming to rest in the northbound lanes.
As a result of the collision, Uribe sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office. Two passengers in the pickup truck, Carmen Uribe, 53, and a 17-year-old female were flown to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The ISP investigation remains ongoing with toxicology results pending at this time. The northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for approximately two hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
