COLUMBUS, Ind. – Heritage Fund-Bartholomew County (HFBC) recently gifted $182,100 in grants from the Community Fund to local nonprofit organizations as part of its first-quarter grants cycle.
Through the generous support of community members, HFBC annually distributes approximately $600,000 to $700,000 in grants to local nonprofits from the unrestricted Community Fund.
Community Fund grants help HFBC to meet emerging needs in Bartholomew County in the areas of youth development, downtown vibrancy; arts, culture, architecture, and responsive community Needs.
The remaining 2024 quarterly grant deadlines are June 1, September 1, and December 1.
First-quarter grant recipients are:
- Healthy Communities – $62,100 for the Mental Health Matters Ambassador pilot program
- Bartholomew Co. Public Library – $50,000 to redesign the Indiana Room into a teen space
- Su Casa Columbus – $40,000 to support youth engagement work
- The Arc of Bartholomew County – $20,000 for ADA remodel of offices
- Columbus Area Arts Council – $10,000 to support strategic planning
In addition to these Community Fund awards, other grants awarded this quarter include:
- South Asian Fund of Bartholomew County – $5,000 for the 2024 Mela Celebration
- REACH Columbus – $3,000 to support life skills enhancement work
- Barth. Co. Historical Society – $1,000 for Talking Tombstones and Preserving Black Heritage
- Indiana University Foundation – $200 to support IU Columbus Pride Pantry
