COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is hosting a public memorial service this Friday, May 17, at 9 a.m., as part of National Police Week.
The event, at the Public Safety Plaza at 239 Second St., will honor the 137 law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in 2023, including seven from Indiana.
Law enforcement honor guards, a “21-gun” salute, and the playing of Taps will all be a part of the ceremony.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and CPD will join with communities across the U.S. in remembering the fallen in the 30-minute service.
