COLUMBUS, Ind. – A new Columbus police officer was sworn in by Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon on Tuesday at Columbus City Hall.
After graduating from Mount Carmel High School (Illinois), Officer Jesse Neikirk (CPD #205) served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. He completed two combat tours in Afghanistan and earned the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged.
Neikirk then worked at the Illinois Department of Corrections for several years before most recently joining the Evansville Police Department as a patrol officer.
When he finishes a short orientation period at the Columbus Police Department, Officer Neikirk will begin the CPD field training program.
