SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department tried to stop a car clocked at 108 mph traveling west on Tipton Street from I-65, on Sunday, just after 10:30 p.m.
Indiana State Police troopers had originally attempted to catch up with the car as it was speeding on the interstate.
The vehicle continued west on Tipton Street at an alleged high-speed rate until turning south onto Chestnut Street and striking a parked car. It came to rest on the sidewalk in the 200 block of S. Chestnut Street.
Officers apprehended the driver, identified as Cooper C. Collier, 20, of Palm Harbor, Florida. It was determined that the suspect had also struck another vehicle in the 1800 block of E. Tipton Street before crashing his car on Chestnut street.
Collier was arrested for resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, reckless driving, criminal recklessness, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
