GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) recently gifted a $2100 Youth Serving Programming grant to the Greenwood Parks Foundation. The money is part of the JCCF Cycle 1 distribution.
The Greenwood Parks Foundation’s mission is to promote, preserve, and enhance public parks, green spaces, and recreational programs through advocacy, education, fundraising, partnerships, and community involvement.
With this project, the Greenwood Parks Foundation aims to provide free swimming lessons to 60 local elementary school children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Greenwood Parks Foundation will work with the City of Greenwood Parks Department, Greenwood Education Foundation, and Clark Pleasant Community School Corporation (or Clark Pleasant School Foundation) to deliver this program.
The goal of the project is to increase basic water safety and swimming skills in the community’s youth, particularly for those who may not otherwise be able to afford swimming lessons.
