COLUMBUS, Ind. – Indiana Youth Group (IYG) invites the community to its upcoming open house at the Columbus location to meet staff, learn more about the organization, and get information on supporting the mission of creating safer spaces for LGBTQ+ youth in Columbus and surrounding communities.
The event is this Monday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Doug Otto United Way Center, 1531 13th St.
“We have been warmly welcomed in Columbus,” says John Goodson, Traveling Youth Services Supervisor for IYG. “We look forward to returning the favor and welcome the community into our center to learn more about how we create a safer space for queer youth.”
In addition to touring the space, guests will participate in a special activity that will allow them to meet the staff and learn more about the various programs and services available to youth. Light snacks and soft drinks will be served.
The Columbus location opened last November and is IYG’s third campus. The flagship center debuted in Indianapolis nearly 37 years ago and a second campus opened in Crawfordsville in June 2023.
IYG’s Director of Engagement, Zoe O’Haillin-Berne, said, “From the moment we announced Columbus as an IYG campus, the community support has been overwhelming. Youth have been flocking to the center since day one, which tells us we are exactly where we need to be.”
IYG Columbus is open to youth (12-19 years old) each Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the United Way Center. Get more details at indianayouthgroup.org or find IYG Columbus on Facebook and Instagram.
