EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Edinburgh Police Department announced late Sunday night that its police dog has died.
K-9 Kira and her handler, Officer Ryan Coy, were performing their monthly training exercise on Thursday, February 1, when Kira fell ill.
The dog was rushed to IndyVet Emergency and Speciality Hospital in Indianapolis where she was diagnosed with pneumonia and an infection.
Despite treatments, K-9 Kira passed away in the arms of her handler on Sunday, February 4.
