VERNON, Ind. — Perceptions Yoga, Mindfulness, and Art has announced that Arts Midwest selected their organization as a 2024 GIG Fund grant recipient.
The GIG (Grow, Invest, Gather) Fund provides $2000 to $4000 grants to support small nonprofit arts organizations in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and other midwest states and Native nations.
Over 100 midwestern organizations, including 12 from Indiana, received a total of $375,000. These awards will help organizations present artists and educational events in their communities.
Perceptions is using its $4000 grant to provide community arts programming for Historic Vernon’s Total Eclipse of the Arts Celebration in April 2024.
During the weekend and day of the total eclipse, April 6, 7, and 8, Perceptions will be hosting a variety of community arts events. Regional artists are invited to participate. Art vendors may show and sell their works around the courthouse square.
Perceptions artists will lead the historical eclipse community’s mural-making efforts and clay artist, Rachel Silverstein, of Long Island, NY, will lead the glazing of bowls with celestial-inspired designs.
Anyone interested in serving as a vendor at the Total Eclipse of the Arts Celebration or participating in any of the activities should email Karen Chilman (karenchilman@perceptionsyoga.org).
