JOHNSON COUNTY – A Westfield man faces charges in Johnson County for allegedly leaking crime scene photos related to the Delphi murders.
Mitch Thomas Westerman, 41, was charged in Johnson County Superior Court 3 with conversion, a Class A misdemeanor. Bartholomew County Prosecutor Lindsey Holden-Kay will prosecute the case in Johnson County.
Westerman used to work for Andrew Baldwin, a public defender previously assigned to suspect Richard Allen, who is charged with murdering two young teenage girls.
State police were told of the evidence leak on October 5. Sensitive crime scene photos were allegedly given to various true crime podcasters and YouTubers.
Attorney Brad Rozzi and Baldwin were removed as counsel from the case by Special Judge Frances Gull after the evidence leaked. Rozzi and Baldwin have since filed briefs with the Indiana Supreme Court asking for Gull to be removed from the case and for them to be reinstated.
An initial hearing for Westerman has not yet been set. Allen’s trial was slated to start in January, but will likely not be tried until next Fall.
