NORTH VERNON, Ind. – North Vernon Main Street (NVMS) announced on Monday that its inaugural executive director Anna Walker is stepping down at the end of this year in order to pursue her passion for ministry.
Walker spearheaded NVMS back in 2021. The nonprofit earned its state accreditation in March 2022 and moved into its home office on Stellar Plaza in North Vernon in June that same year. As director, Walker initiated several successful events such as the Autumn Stroll and Harvest Dinner, Stellar Summer Nights, the Around Our Town 5K Glow Run, and the upcoming Festival of Trees.
In a letter to NVMS announcing her resignation, Walker said ” It has been an honor to serve you, our community members, and our business owners, in this role. I look forward to supporting the work of NVMS in a different way, and will always champion our downtown and local entrepreneurs.”
Walker will be passing the reins to 27-year-old Autumn Moore, a native of North Vernon. Moore graduated from IUPUI with a degree in tourism, convention, and event management and a business degree from IU Kokomo. She is married to Leighton Moore. Previously, Moore worked as an event coordinator for a technology media company out of Boston planning tech conferences all over the country. She also owns Oak and Ivy Events, an event-planning company, specializing in weddings.
Moore said, “I have always been invested and interested in creating a welcoming environment for our community and now that I have friends who are having babies I truly feel more called to continue to grow our town so they have a community that is providing resources for them.”
She said she is looking forward to getting out into the community and meeting existing business owners and residents as well as community members who want to bring businesses downtown.
“I worked for a non-profit organization in Indy for a few years in college and my favorite part of the job was seeing all the hard work we were doing come together for the greater good,” added Moore.
