GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has released an update on the shooting in Greenwood that left one person in serious condition over the weekend.
Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Wood Creek Drive in White River Township and found Lal Nun Mawia, 24, of Greenwood, suffering from a gunshot wound. Mawia has been released from IU Health Methodist Hospital and is recovering at home, per JCSO.
One person of interest, Lal Thang Fela, 53, was arrested on separate charges, stemming from Failure to Appear on an original charge of Domestic Battery.
Fela remains in the Johnson County Jail with no bond. Investigators are still working on this case and gathering facts, but there has been a language barrier, per Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess.
As additional information and or new criminal charges come forward it will be released.
