GREENWOOD, Ind. — The City of Greenwood, in partnership with the Greater Greenwood Arts Council and the Indiana Arts Commission, recently updated the Polk Hill Trail “Art on the Trail” exhibits by removing four exhibits and installing four new fixtures. They will remain in place until August 2025.
“In Greenwood, we are constantly looking for ways to increase beautification efforts in public spaces,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “The Art on the Trail project is a longstanding initiative and a prime example of our continued efforts to create dynamic and walkable spaces for Greenwood residents and visitors.”
The new pieces were selected by a panel including local members and artists of the Greater Greenwood Arts Council, Southside Arts League, as well as a landscape architect on behalf of Greenwood’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Submissions were reviewed and chosen based on the quality and professionalism of the work, durability in harsh Indiana weather conditions, appropriateness, relevance, compatibility with its location on the trail, design, function, and meeting submission requirements.
The newly installed sculptures include: “Open Arms,” by Tim Adams of Webster City, Iowa, “Both Sides,” by Maureen Gray of Interlochen, Michigan, “Pair,” by Jan Dean of South Bend, Indiana, and “Feathers Three” by Kirk Seese of Lutherville, Maryland.
