JOHNSON COUNTY — An inmate at the Johnson County Correctional Facility died after being found unconscious in their cell on Friday morning.
At 9:23 a.m., Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) correction officers found Leomeir V. Kennedy, a 31-year-old transgender male, from Vancouver, Washington, suffering cardiac arrest, per county officials. Franklin Fire/EMS was notified and responded. CPR was performed for several minutes but was unsuccessful and the inmate was pronounced dead at the jail. There is no foul play suspected, according to Sheriff Duane Burgess.
Johnson County Coroner Mike Pruitt said an autopsy and toxicology have been scheduled.
Kennedy was charged in April with child molestation and possession of child pornography for actions while employed at Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center. Kennedy was no longer employed at Hopebridge.
