COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus and Bartholomew County have earned recognition by Dementia Friendly America as a Dementia Friendly Community.
To mark the achievement, Saturday, August 19, has been officially proclaimed “Dementia Friendly Awareness Day” by the Bartholomew County Commissioners and Mayor Jim Lienhoop.
In addition, Dementia Friendly Bartholomew County is holding a kick-off event at Yes! Cinema that day from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Attendees will learn about creating a community that is informed, safe, and respectful of those living with dementia. The event will feature a panel discussion, a question-and-answer session, and interactive experiences, including a walk-through brain presented by the IU Health Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center.
