MADISON, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash involving a fire truck on Clifty Hollow Road on Hanover Hill near Madison on Saturday.
Initial findings from the ISP Crash Reconstruction Team indicate that at 8:35 a.m., a Hanover Fire Department truck, driven by Charles Justice, 69, of Hanover, was responding to the area to assist in clearing dried mud from the road. The truck was eastbound in the westbound lanes of Clifty Hollow Road when it collided with an SUV, driven by Terrie L. Cox, 44, of Milton, Kentucky, head-on.
As a result of the accident, Cox sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Justice was not injured in the crash.
The ISP investigation, which is ongoing. Toxicology tests are pending, although alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
