COLUMBUS, Ind. – Detectives from the Indiana State Police (ISP) took a Columbus man into custody on child exploitation charges after serving a search warrant at his home in Bartholomew County on Monday.
The investigation by Detective Jason Duncan began in August 2022 after a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. After a nearly ten-month investigation, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Poshard Drive.
During the execution of the search warrant, additional evidence was allegedly collected which led to Joshua J. Johnson, 29, being arrested. He was incarcerated at the Bartholomew County Jail on charges of Child Exploitation-Dissemination of Child Pornography, a Level 5 Felony, and Child Exploitation-Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 6 Felony.
He awaits his initial hearing. ISP says the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
Detective Duncan was assisted by troopers and detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and investigators with the Indiana State Police-Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
