EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was dispatched Wednesday afternoon to County Road 800E, south of County Road 650S, near Edinburgh, after a report of a vehicle accident at around 5:15 p.m.
First responders determined that a box truck had gone off the east side of the road, down an embankment, struck several trees, and became engulfed in flames.
The crash originated in Johnson County and the vehicle came to rest in Shelby County. One person appears to have died in the accident.
County Road 800E, from County Road 650S (Johnson County) to Shelby County 1000S, was closed for a period of time for crash investigation and cleanup.
The Shelby County Coroner’s Office will make identification of the driver. JCSO says that when the Indiana Crash Report is completed, details will be released.
