INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs on Monday announced 10 Indiana Main Street organizations will receive $149,520 in funding through the Taking Care of Main Street program.
The goal of the grant program is to support Indiana Main Streets as they transition to the new accreditation standards implemented by Main Street America. With these funds, Main Street organizations will be able to provide direct financial assistance for growing economic development initiatives in their community, including business retention, organizational growth, recruitment, and transformation strategy implementation.
Eligible expenses include salaries, administrative or consultant fees, space or equipment rental, or staff development and training.
Among the local Main Street organizations awarded are:
Discover Downtown Franklin is awarded $24,567 to hire a new full-time position focused on economic vitality; to establish an internship program in partnership with their local university, and to compensate a formal farmers market manager to support the expanding Franklin Farmers Market.
Seymour Main Street is awarded $20,000 to secure the professional consulting services of Veridus Group. The proposal from Veridus Group includes business attraction and retention deliverables on top of assisting with the implementation of the 2022 Streetscape Master Plan.
Batesville Main Street is awarded $5,414 to promote its organization’s brand awareness and in turn, promote downtown businesses and recruit volunteers to help expand community events and engagement.
