COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two Columbus teens were arrested early Friday following a report of shots fired led to the discovery of drugs, scales, and nearly $10,000 in cash.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to the 3700 block of Camden Drive at 12:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they heard yelling inside a mobile home in the 2800 block of Scotland Drive and found a spent 9mm casing outside the home. Police spoke with Kadin Atkins, 18, and Blaine A. Humphrey, 19, who both live at the Scotland Drive residence. CPD said they smelled the odor of marijuana inside the home.
Officers applied for and were granted a search warrant. They allegedly recovered two handguns, a rifle, several bags of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, a currency counter, and nearly $10,000 in cash.
Both Atkins and Humphrey were placed under arrest and taken to Bartholomew County Jail where they were remanded with a 48-hour hold. Atkins was preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness and illegal consumption of alcohol. Humphrey was booked for possession of marijuana and illegal consumption of alcohol. More charges are expected as the investigation continues, according to CPD.
