GREENWOOD, Ind.– Two Center Grove Community School Corporation teachers were selected as 2023 Indiana University Jacobs Educators. Erin Brown, a 5th-grade teacher at Sugar Grove Elementary, and Katie Jones, a 4th-grade teacher at Maple Grove Elementary, were chosen based on their innovative use of technology in classrooms.
Brown has taught for seven years with the last six in Center Grove. “It is such an honor to be named a Jacobs Educator and to be a part of an incredible group of educators,” said Brown.
Jones has taught for 15 years, the last four in Center Grove. She said, “I really enjoy watching my students engage with computer science knowing how important it is for our future. I feel so honored to be a Jacobs Educator Award winner.”
The Annual Jacobs Educator award celebrates outstanding teachers who are at the cutting edge of integrating technology to support problem-based and/or inquiry-learning classrooms. Along with a monetary stipend, Jacobs educators are also asked to provide their expertise to the School of Education by translating research into useable material for teachers, therefore benefiting many more classrooms through their exemplary work.
