COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a Marion County man on multiple charges after he allegedly tried to rob the Moose Lodge in downtown Columbus on Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to the Moose Lodge, at 330 Eighth Street, at about 12:35 p.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery, per CPD’s Lt. Matt Harris. Witnesses told law enforcement that a man, later identified as Robert Carl Christopher, 55, of Indianapolis, supposedly robbed the business at gunpoint and fled the area on foot.
When police arrived, they saw the suspect running away. After a short pursuit, officers caught and apprehended him in the 1000 block Franklin Street. CPD recovered a firearm that the man allegedly had in his possession, along with an undisclosed amount of currency.
Christopher was taken to Bartholomew County Jail and charged with armed robbery, resisting law enforcement, interfering with the reporting of a crime, criminal confinement, and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
