COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce President Cindy Frey has announced that as a result of the fire late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce offices will be closed for an unknown period of time.
She said that staff is available via email and cell phone. Frey told LocalNewsDigital that on Monday morning, every member will receive an email from the chamber.
A portion of Frey’s email reads, “Early Sunday morning, there was a fire at 430 5th Street at the historic Irwin Block. The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce offices were not damaged by fire but did sustain isolated water damage and extensive smoke damage. We will be working off-site for the foreseeable future. We are grateful to the public servants at the City of Columbus who risked their safety to protect our property and for securing the site and keeping the public safe from falling debris. This chamber has operated from this corner for 50 years, and we hope to continue to serve our community for another five decades from this very location.”
