COLUMBUS – A 38-year-old local man was recently charged with false reporting after making inaccurate allegations against an Indiana State Police (ISP) trooper.
In September, ISP detectives began an investigation when Alan Parker, 38, of Columbus, reported that he was being harassed and poisoned by a neighbor, who was a 19-year ISP veteran. Parker stated that he believed the neighbor, had given him a poisonous substance, per ISP. He also accused the trooper of turning off his electricity and internet service, as well as looking through his windows and using power tools during the night to harass him.
The state police investigation determined that the information provided by Parker was incorrect and the initial allegations against the trooper were supposedly made while Parker was intoxicated.
The case was then presented to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office for review. As a result, Parker was charged with one misdemeanor count of making a false report against a police officer.
